Meaning of Ready Mix Concrete

It is called "Ready-Mix Concrete" which is produced by mixing the materials in desired proportions with computer control in concrete batching plant or mixer and delivered to the consumer as "fresh concrete". The main element that separates the ready-mixed concrete from the prepared concrete by mixing it manually or with concrete mixer is the production of ready-mixed concrete in modern facilities by computer control. Qualifications of the ready-mix concrete users will be found in TS EN 206. The plants where the ready-mix concrete components are stocked, mixed under control, ready-mix concrete production is carried out and the mixers are filled are called the concrete batching plant. Concrete batching plants are divided into two types according to their blends: wet and dry mixtures, and bundled and star type according to their storage types. In the star-type power plant, there is a star-shaped storage space in front of the power plant and the aggregates are transferred to the rear mixing vessel by means of the bucket. In bunker plant, aggregates and sands are stored in bunkers in front of the power plant and transported to the mixing vessel with a belt system.

Production Process of Ready Mix Concrete

First, laboratory tests are carried out to examine the quality and compatibility of the materials (cement, aggregate, water, additive) that will be used in the production of ready-mix concrete. In order to prevent the occurrence of negative changes in the materials passing through these experiments, continuous quality control should be done. The production process of the ready-mixed concrete starts with the operation of the computer system by determining the number of the formula that defines the concrete to be produced. After the first command, aggregate, cement and water stocked in separate compartments are weighed simultaneously. Then the weighed aggregate is conveyed to the mixer tank by moving with tape or bucket. In the meantime, cement, water and chemical additives in the formula are transferred to the boiler and mixed.
